UFC 303, originally planned to be headlined by Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler, underwent a significant transformation due to unforeseen circumstances. McGregor was forced to withdraw due to a toe injury, leading to a complete overhaul of the fight card. The new main event features a middleweight championship rematch between Alex Pereira and Jiri Prochazka, with the co-main event showcasing Brian Ortega against Diego Lopes. However, the event was not without last-minute drama, as the Ortega vs. Lopes bout saw a drastic change in weight class from featherweight to lightweight.

The highly anticipated rematch between Alex Pereira and Jiri Prochazka is set to take centre stage at UFC 303. Both fighters weighed in at 204.5 pounds (92.76 kg), ensuring a level playing field for their clash. Pereira, the current light heavyweight champion, will look to defend his title against the relentless Prochazka.
Co-Main Event: Diego Lopes vs. Brian Ortega
The weigh-in results came with an interesting change and included a weight class change, not the fight itself. Last week at the UFC Saudi Arabia weigh-in, it was Kelvin Gastelum fighting Daniel Rodriguez at middleweight instead of decided welterweight, and this time it’s Brian Ortega.
According to Ariel Helwani, Brian Ortega, who had been preparing to move up to 155 pounds (70.31 kg), received a last-minute call to face Diego Lopes. In the early hours of the morning, around 3:30 AM, Ortega’s team informed Lopes’ camp that Brian was at 151 pounds (68.49 kg) and needed to start rehydrating immediately. To save the fight, both sides agreed to change the weight class to lightweight. On the other hand, Lopes appeared more comfortable at the new weight, tipping the scales at 155 pounds (70.31 kg) on the dot.
